Tonight Mewdy Blue is still hanging in there but hanging on
your every prayer. He made it through last night pretty well staying in the dog’s
crate with all his necessaries (a soft furry rug, water and litterpan). I
stayed on the hard wood floor right next to him listening for his every
movement. I think I must’ve fallen asleep for a bit because I suddenly awoke to
the phone.
At first I couldn’t figure out who would call in the middle
of the night but then I realized that light was seeping into the room around
the curtains! Our veterinarian’s office was calling to get an update on Mewdy
Blue. After that I spent the day pretty much the way I spent the night,
checking on my boy, offering him food every now and then and giving him his
meds when necessary.

Question |
I find myself pleading to his beloved mother, Effie, sister, Bluebird, and brother, Question, to help him through this. I ask them to please not take him to join them yet. It is too soon.
As I said, tonight he’s holding his own but I let him out to
walk, or I should say stumble, around a bit. He really wants to go upstairs,
and I would love to go up and sleep in my bed, but it is so hot up there. At 9
pm the heat index was still 101 degrees! So I guess I’ll be back on the floor
again tonight. At least we have air conditioning in the living room.
So thanks for all your prayers and positive energy but
please don’t stop. He needs all the help he can get.
Hang in there, Mewdy Blue! We are mustering all the purrs we can to send your way!
ReplyDeletePurrs and hugs,
Carmine, Milita, and Jewel
Andrea, we are all purring for the best for you two. This is hard enough without the heat, but I'm sure that's only making it worse for both of you. We hope he pulls through for you.
ReplyDeleteI read of the update on the Cat Blogosphere site, then came over to leave a comment. Please keep us updated. I hope Mewdy Blue improves and that his improvement soars.
ReplyDeleteStill sending purrrrrrsss for you both. Hang in there, kittie.
ReplyDeletePS: FWIW, a small room A/C (5000 BTU or so) is 'not that expensive'. Checking a local Lowes or WalMart might be worth considering if you have a little money to spare. Makes sleeping in your own bed a whole lot more comfortable in this kind of weather.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. Your support means so much!
ReplyDeleteMewdy Blue wouldn't eat or drink anything during the rest of the night so I've started him on subcu fluids. This afternoon he has been licking up some more baby food. In the meantime though, he is sleeping. He's very weak but also loving (of course).
He has an appointment to recheck his bloodwork on Friday but if he hasn't perked up even a little bit overnight I'm going to try to take him in tomorrow.
Thank-you everyone!
Just checking in. Purrrrrrrring that no noos is good noos.
ReplyDeleteWe just got the results back from his latest bloodwork. Most of his liver values have decreased so that is good. His electrolytes are normal so that is also good. His bilirubin, however, is higher than my vet has ever seen. Not good.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what is going on now but he finished his first round of antibiotics yesterday (many times you can have secondary bacterial infections and pancreatitis with liver disease). I just started him on a second round tonight.
The trip in to the clinic today really wore him out. He will eat for me though - just a little bit at a time but it's something.
Thanks for all your concerns.
